International Agri-Center's Progressive Ag Safety Day

International Agri-Center’s Progressive Agriculture Safety Day is held in the fall for local third grade students. The event is hosted by the International Agri-Center in conjunction with the Progressive Agriculture Foundation and is sponsored by Simplot.

The goal of the event is to provide education and training to make farm and ranch life safer and healthier for children and their communities. The students will learn how to prevent injuries and reduce the risk of farm-related incidents.

"We want children to learn at a young age how to treat equipment and how to react in an emergency situation," said Kerissa Chapman, Ag Education Manager of International Agri-Center. "Both on and off the farm, it is vital for children to stay safe."

During the safety day, children will participate in interactive activities that reinforce the importance of taking responsibility for their own safety, respecting parents' safety rules and sharing safety tips with their family and friends.

Most of the participants invited are from rural schools, or schools with many students that live on a farm. The event which will feature safety presentations from local community law enforcement as well as demonstrations for tractor and ATV safety by Garton Tractor.
